Dear MES Parents and Guardians,

I hope this message finds you and your family healthy and well. My name is Dr. Jennifer Robinson, and I’m honored to serve as the principal of Maricopa Elementary School. As we begin the 2025–2026 school year, I’d like to extend a warm welcome to our new families and a heartfelt welcome back to our returning Diamondback community. We’re excited for a year filled with growth, achievement, and leadership!

Maricopa Elementary is proud to be a Leader in Me Lighthouse School—a distinction that reflects our commitment to developing leadership and life skills in every scholar. Based on Stephen Covey’s 8 Habits of Highly Effective People, this program is woven into our daily learning to help scholars build essential habits such as personal responsibility, goal setting, collaboration, and communication.

Our mission through Leader in Me is not only to support strong academic performance but also to create a thriving, inclusive school culture. We believe that every scholar can be a leader, and we are dedicated to helping each scholar recognize their unique strengths and potential. By nurturing these skills, we prepare our scholars to succeed in school and in life.

Here at MES, leadership is not just taught—it’s lived. Our school embraces the following key paradigms:

  • Everyone can be a leader.
  • Everyone has genius.
  • Change starts with me.
  • Empower scholars to lead their own learning.
  • Educators and families partner to develop the whole child.

All scholars are introduced to the 8 Habits through classroom instruction and a schoolwide culture that brings the habits to life in creative and meaningful ways. These habits help guide scholars both in their academic journey and in their day-to-day lives:

  1. Be Proactive
  2. Begin with the End in Mind
  3. Put First Things First
  4. Think Win-Win
  5. Seek First to Understand, Then to Be Understood
  6. Synergize
  7. Sharpen the Saw
  8. Find Your Voice

We are committed to delivering a high-quality education that meets the individual needs of every scholar. Your partnership and support are vital to your scholar’s success, and we are grateful to work alongside you throughout the year.

Here’s to a fantastic school year ahead!

Warm regards,
Dr. Jennifer Robinson, NBCT
